American Legion Brick Memorial Post 348
Legion Runners

American Legion Runners and Walkers from Brick Memorial Post 348 participated in the Lt. Dennis Zilinski Memorial run for the fourth year in a row. Lt. Zilinski, a true hero, was KIA during the war in Iraq.  The morning of November 13, 2011 was cool and crisp as the Legion crew met in the parking lot at the PNC Art Center in Holmdel. After registering, Legion team mates attended the ceremony honoring Lt. Zilinski and other members of the armed forces who have made sacrifices during the war.  Mr. and Mrs. Zilinski called all veterans to the front and thanked everyone for their service with a handshake or a hug. At 10am everyone took off running and walking. The walk is 2 miles and the run is 3.5 miles. The course for walkers and runners is very challenging with some hills of note. All finished a little worse for wear but happy to  have made it to the end. The 348 team was invited to and attended a great post event lunch at Dave and Judy Nelson's home.
Lt. Zilinski was killed in action in Bayji, Iraq on November 19, 2005. His story is short, 23 years, because he believed that ultimately the fighting in Iraq was protecting his fellow citizens in this great nation of ours.  The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Memorial Fund was created and founded by a group of very close friends of Dennis' to honor his memory and spirit for life.

The Brick Memorial Post American Legion Runners participated in the "Support the Troops" 5k Run Sunday August 7th at Sea Girt.
The organizers did a great job recognizing troops and veterans for their service to America . The Brick American Legion runners were proudly announced to the crowd of around 2,000. President Lisa Corris did a great job getting the team organized for the Post. The weather was brutally hot and humid but all of the team made the finish line.

Brick Legion Runners and Post 348 supporting
the Lt. Dennis Zilinski 3.5 mile run in Holmdel on Nov. 7th.
A great ceremony is held honoring Lt. Zilinski who was KIA
in Iraq. This year all vets were called forward to receive a challenge coin.
The run is pretty rough and hilly. Post 348 did a great job representing the
Legion and supporting our fallen heroes! We had 13 members on hand on a
cold Sunday morning.
